When ear cartilage is used to build a bridge, is it one piece on each side that extends from radix to tip? Or are they segments?

I have a wide flat nose. My PS wants to use ear cartilage to build up the nose, to give a defined bridge and tip. I'm concerned about the radix area as I like the spacing between my eyes. He says the radix will help to slope the bridge nicely flowing to the tip. The unfortunate part is that he doesn't do imaging. My concern is, if he gives me bridge and I don't like the radix, Can I safely remove that part only as a conservative rhinoplasty? Or would the whole nose have to be dismantled?
