Can compression or sports bras help with skin retraction, etc. after saline implant deflation?

Thank you for sharing your excellent question.  The garment selected will not improve your skins ability to retract as this will depend solely on the inherent elasticity of your tissues.  I would recommend the garment to help with fluid collection development, however. Hope this helps.

A compression bra/ sports bra will be more comfortable than others.  I recommend my patients wear a sports bra for 3 months.

The compression does not assist the skin in retracting.  It is used to help support the tissues as they heal and to help prevent fluid collection in the area.  Your surgeon will recommend the type of garment that is best for you.

I usually recommend wearing a snug fitting compression or sports bra after deflation.  I dont really think it has any real bearing on how well or how much the skin retracgts.  I think that has more to do with actual properties of your breast tissue and skin.  I would wear something comfortable and let your breasts "re-accomadate" for 2-3 months.  I have seen surprising changes occur.   

Yes, I think that a formfitting (snug but not too tight) bra may be helpful. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with.

Thank you for the question. You can expect some skin tightening after implant deflation. However, it is difficult to know how much. It depends on age, skin elasticity, etc. I generally tell my patient to wear sports bras for about 3 months. Check with your surgeon, too. Good luck.
