Safe to get implants removed at 5 weeks pregnant?

I would not recommend a general anesthetic to remove your implants during pregnancy. However, if you have small implants they can often be removed with a local anesthetic, and saline implants can be deflated and then removed after the baby is born.  Good luck and congratulations. Jane. 

If you are pregnant - most likely the facility, Anesthesiologist and the Surgeon - will not allow the procedure to proceed. You'll have to wait  until you're not pregnant. 

If this is an elective procedure then you should wait until after your pregnancy to have her implants removed.  Implant removal is usually done in the operating room under general anesthesia.  We usually do not recommend putting a pregnant person under general anesthesia for an elective surgery which can safely be delayed until after the pregnancy.  I would recommend that he contact to her plastic surgeons office immediately and let them know about this new development.  They will most likely want to reschedule you for a later operative date.By the way, congratulations on your pregnancy!

Due to the fact #anesthesia is used during breast implant #removal or #explant surgery, it is not recommended one who is pregnant or nursing undergo the procedure. Thank you for a great question and congratulations! Getting your breast implants removed is an elective (not emergent) procedure. Having general anesthesia while you are pregnant may cause risk to the baby; therefore, you should wait until after your pregnancy to proceed with surgery.

Because the surgery to remove the implants is elective I recommend waiting until after you are done with the pregnancy and/or breast feeding.  If general anesthesia was planned, your surgeon will almost certainly cancel the procedure.

You should avoid elective surgery when you are pregnant. Advise your surgeon and he/she will direct you accordingly. 

No, you should avoid any elective surgery during your pregnancy, especially in the first trimester. before proceeding. Please get your OB doctor's approval.

HiThanks for your question and I appreciate your concern.Elective surgery should be avoided in the 1st and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy - so unfortunately no it is t safe to proceed. It would be safest to wait till a few months after delivery but if there is a reasons that cannot wait then the window for surgery is the 2nd trimester. If the reason for explanation is emergent then you would may proceed now but that’s putting the baby at risk. Pls discuss your options further with your board certified PS.I hope this helps.....
