I have had these neck rolls my whole life, even when I was slimmer. I am younger than 25. I would like to get rid of the fat and have a slim neck. Would liposuction benefit me? I also don’t see many surgeons preforming neck lipo, usually only chin liposuction. So would that be fine going to a surgeon who does mostly chin lipo?
Answer: Considering Liposuction for Neck Rolls: Is It the Right Choice? When considering cosmetic procedures like liposuction for neck rolls, it's important to evaluate whether this is the most suitable option for achieving your desired look. Given that you're younger than 25 and have had these neck rolls regardless of your weight, it may be beneficial to consult with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who specializes in facial and neck procedures. Liposuction can be effective for removing localized fat deposits, but it's crucial to ensure that the procedure targets the specific area of concern and that your skin has good elasticity to retract after fat removal. Since neck rolls can be due to a combination of fat and skin laxity, other procedures such as a neck lift or non-surgical treatments like Kybella or Ultherapy might also be worth exploring. It's important to select a surgeon who has specific experience with neck contouring procedures, not just chin liposuction. During your consultation, discuss your aesthetic goals, and ask about the surgeon's experience with neck procedures, view before-and-after photos of their work, and inquire about the expected outcomes and recovery process. Ultimately, a personalized consultation will provide you with the best guidance on which procedure will help you achieve the slim neck you desire.

Answer: I agree that the term 'chin liposuction' is misleading, and should be changed to neck liposuction. Nobody gets liposuction of their chin. Many people can get liposuction of the fat under their chin. This is called submental liposuction. This can be a very effective treatment for somebody with a double chin, however, the area that you are concerned about would not be amenable to reducing with liposuction, unfortunately. Thank you for this question. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Treatment options The best treatment is going to be neck liposuction. Finding a provider who has sufficient skill and experience, may take some work. Delivering consistent quality Liposuction results is more difficult than most people realize. It’s also important you find somebody who is accustomed to treating this area. Liposuction will remove the excess fat, but this will not Fix the skin increase that runs across your neck. For the actual skin increase careful injection of fillers right into the crease itself along its length can be helpful and it’s probably the best treatment. It’s important to differentiate the skinfold versus the surrounding excess subcutaneous fat. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
