Closed nasal reduction recovery advice needed. Will my nose return to it's previous appearance? (Photo)

Question

Closed reduction on broken nose 3 weeks ago by ENT surgeon, you can see from pics nose looks straight now but there is hump on bridge and side of nose. Does this look like swelling to you and how long would it take for all swelling to resolve. Before injury my nose had very small hump on bridge but larger now IMO. What is likelihood my nose will return to its previous appearance? What should I do. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

During the healing process and closed nasal reduction swelling can lead to a larger hump.  However the bones can move was well leading to a bigger hump.  After 3 months of recovery it might be necessary to do a revision surgery if the hump still persists.  The revision surgery would need removal of the dorsal hump to make it flat and osteotomies to bring in the bones and restore the nose to  normal shape.RegardsDr. J

It is not uncommon for swelling to persist for a few weeks and even months after an injury to the nose. There does appear to be some swelling and redness along the area of the nasal bones and deviation of the septum to the left in the middle third of your nose. This second part is very hard to correct acutely with a closed reduction procedure. My best advice is to follow the instructions of your surgeon and allow 6 months to heal. If you still notice a bump and nasal deviation that bother you, you can consider rhinoplasty at that time.

Early but appears if you see a significant change now most likely this issues will be present after 3 months healing time. Might consider revision open rhinoplasty.

Probably not. However, your surgeon who saw you after the injury and knows what was accomplished during your fracture reduction procedure and is the best person to answer your question. It is probably far better than it would have been if you did not have the procedure 3 weeks ago but you can have further refinement in the future if you're not satisfied.
