Thank you for your photographs. It does appear that the slightly darker skin of your areola is on either side of your vertical incision line. This can occur in patients who have very large areola or the areola sit high enough on the breast so that it is impossible to get the vertical lines of the lift pattern outside of the edges of the areola when drawing the lift pattern. After the breast tissue has stretched and relax some, it may be possible revise this under local anesthesia. Speak with your plastic surgeon. Best wishes.

It does appear there may be a little areola tissue around the edge. Since you are a year out from surgery you can consider a revision to improve the overall appearance of the areola and scars.
