THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE THE EARS APPEAR SMALLER IS TO HAVE THEM PINNED BACK. BUT THIS SOMETHING YOU MAY WANT TO SPEAK WITH THE SURGEON ABOUT AND WHAT THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS ARE
It is definitely possible to make the ear smaller in the vertical dimension via a wedge excision (which I have often performed for skin cancer surgeries), if you are willing to have a "wrap-around" scar (most likely at the junction of the upper 1/3 and mid-ear), and I (and the patients) have been impressed with how well these scars usually heal. Otherwise, a classic "otoplasty" approach to pin the ears hides the incision on the posterior surface. Just please be sure to visit with a board-certified plastic surgeon . . . thanks!
Most people do not have overly large ears. The ears protrude and give the appearance of being too large.Having said that, occasionally the ear is disproportionately large to the head. The ear can be surgically reduced in size if indicated. The trade off is a scar on the outside surface that may be undesirably visible.
If one has protruding and large ears, they will appear smaller after an ear pinning operation. However, if your ears are not protruding, they can only be made smaller by surgical measures (the so-called wedge resections) that always leave visible scars behind.
Bleeding four days after an otoplasty is not normal. I’d recommend that you go and see your surgeon once more, as only he can determine the cause of the bleeding and do something about it.
Hello "duton" and thank you for your question. You appear to have a great early result. I would be patient and give it time for swelling to resolve naturally, and definitely not be pulling on your ears (although massage may be OK, when cleared and as guided by your surgeon). I...
If your ears stick out based on the view you have submitted yes conchal bowl reduction would be indicated because you have a well formed antihelical fold. If the ears do not stick out too much you need nothing.
Is not really possible. If done correctly and the healing is as expected, you can achieve your goals. If you're worried about failure, ask your surgeon for the revision policy and what costs you are looking at if you results relapse to what you started with. But this if very...
Thanks for the question. 85% of the ear development is completed at the age of 3 and 93% at the age of 10. Because of that, this process can be carried out in the preschool period without the child having a social trauma. I wish you all the best.
