Second hair transplant FUE after FUT

It can take 6 to 12 months after surgery to see results.  If you are concerned it is best to contact your doctor.If you would like a second surgery it is also a good idea to contact your doctor.

Generally I advise my patients to wait one year before getting a second procedure. It takes 9-12 months to see full hair growth after hair transplant surgery. Depending on your scarring, donor density you have left, and how much grafts you need, you could be a candidate for another FUT or possibly an FUE if you don't need as many grafts. If you are satisfied with your results you may be ready for a second procedure in 4 months, otherwise make sure to find a hair transplant surgeon who is qualified, experienced and who specializes in hair transplant surgeries and has experience in FUT & FUE, who is not biased as it may not be necessary to perform another FUT. Also, a surgeon whos familiar with scar repair as you could be a candidate for scalp micropigmentation to help reduce the appearance of the scar from your initial procedure.

It is certainly common for patients to have multiple hair transplants over the course of their lifetime. Ultimately your candidacy for another procedure depends on the amount of available donor hair. If your donor area is depleted from the first procedure, than you cannot harvest any more scalp hair. I recommend following up with a hair transplant surgeon for a proper scalp exam. 

You should wait for another 3-4 months for optimal results. FUE after FUT suggests you may not be satisfied with look of donor area. Both FUE and FUT leaves scars. Consult with your doctor about second transplant and which procedure would be best for you.

It is certainly possible to do multiple surgeries. We recommend to wait for at least a year to make sure all the transplanted hairs have grown.  Then you need to see your hair loss specialist to make sure you have enough donor hair and if Fue is the right choice to meet your concerns. 

It is not unusual to have a second hair transplant to cover areas that were not covered in the first and to fine tune the first hair transplant. The choice of FUE vs FUT should be made by the doctor who examines you evaluating your residual donor supply. For some people who had 4500 grafts, the donor area might be depleted, but that determination can be made with an experience d doctor.
