Is the ultrasonic rhinoplasty much better than a normal rhinoplasty? Can a crooked nose be perfectly straightened with this technique or is it imposibel to get a perfect nose?
Answer: Ultrasonic rhinoplasty for a crooked nose - is it better ? The answer to your question is that it is not the tool that counts in achieving best results but the experience of the surgeon using the tool. Many surgeons will achieve great results with standard techniques but since ultrasonic rhinoplasty is new it means very few have the experience of using the new tool. My experience is that it is very useful since it allows precise bone sculpting and is PARTICULARLY useful in crooked noses, deviations and postraumatic deformities. The bone reshaping and sculpting ability provides more versatility during surgery. Furthermore there is no collateral damage to soft tissues since the ultrasonic energy is tuned to the bone itself and does not affect the surrounding tissues. This means faster recovery times with little or no bruising. If you see in the video below of a patient who wanted her nose simply straightened and a little smaller - when the cast comes off there is no bruising a 7 days !The fact that a hammer and chisel technique is avoided there is more control thereby avoiding unwanted fractures and splintering of the bone. This is useful in controlling the bone reshaping very precisely and reduces the revision rate for bony irregularities.

Answer: Rhinoplasty swelling Hello and thank you for your question. You can have good results from either procedure, but as you select your procedure, you should understand that an ultrasonic procedure is a newer procedure and may not get you the same quality results as traditional rhinoplasty that has been performed successfully for decades. Also, perfect symmetry is not the measure of a good result. Even very attractive facial features have some natural asymmetry which makes the face look pleasing, unique, and individual. Schedule an in-person consultation with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon to discuss your potential rhinoplasty in greater detail. Good luck! - Elbert T. Cheng, MD

Answer: Rhinoplasty swelling The answer to your last question on whether it is impossible to get a perfect those is yes. Rhinoplasty is intended to improve the appearance of the nose however no operation ever yields perfect results. You must be prepared for this fact prior to having the procedure. The answer to the second question of whether a crooked nose can be perfectly straightened is no. Crooked or Eva to noses can be the most difficult types of rhinoplasty. Improving the deviated nose is reasonable however the nose will never be perfectly straight as the face is never perfectly symmetrical. I would recommend finding a surgeon not based on techniques or tools but based on results and reasonable expectations. Best of luck with your surgery

Answer: Ultrasonic piezo rhinoplasty Hi and welcome to our forum! The difference between the traditional and ultrasound piezo rhinoplasty is the method of bone cutting. During the traditional procedure, bone cuts are made with an osteotome (chisel) and mallet. In the piezo rhinoplasty, a high frequency vibrating device generates localized heat to cut the bone. It is felt by some to be more accurate and with less associated soft tissue complications. It is not yet widely employed in the US. We use traditional techniques in our practice. Choose the surgeon for his / her skill....not the instrument. Best wishes...
