Can nipple/areola reduction be done without potentially decreasing sensitivity in nipples? (Photo)

Thank you for your question and picture.Yes, there is always the risk of loss of nipple sensation with nipple surgery; however, a skin -only areola/nipple reduction might solve the problem.  The nerves to the nipple penetrate from the breast tissue underneath and do not travel superficially through the skin.

a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have surgery.

Nipple and areolar reduction can always be done
without any decrease in sensitivity. I counsel my patients that nipple
reduction is done in a very artistic fashion with incisions that are virtually
imperceptible and a customized excellent nipple that can be reduced both in
diameter and projection. Breast-feeding may not be possible, but sensation and
reaction to stimulation are always normal. Areolar diameter reduction can be
done always and consistently with no loss of sensation, ability to breast-feed,
or reaction to stimulation. This is an operation where skin only is removed. I

Hello Yes you can have your nipple and areola area reduced and , in the vast majority of cases, there would be no change in sensation.  Visit a board certified plastic surgeon in your area and review your concerns. That is always the best way to get questions answered.
