Nipple piercings leave a permanent hole and associated scarring, even after removal of the piercings.  This can create increased protrusion of the nipple.  Prominent nipples can be addressed by male nipple reduction surgery, which is a 20 minute procedure performed under local anesthesia (with laughing gas, if desired).  The procedure involve excision of a small ellipse (eye-shape) of skin and underlying tissue with repair using absorbable sutures.  There are no stitches to remove, and healing occurs within a couple weeks.
