My nose has become more and more deformed and crooked with age. I have had a couple of traumatic injuries in the past five years or so. I'm also a recovering addict who has used methamphetamines in the past. I'm reluctant to be so blatant about that but I want my nose corrected and want to know what all that will entale. I have BC/BS medicaid and no way to pay for a rhinoplasty out of pocket. Is it possible that insurance will cover any of what's needed to correct this?

Answer: Insurance coverage Typically insurance will cover a portion of the overall cost associated with correction of a crooked nose. You should pursue a pre-authorization after consulting with your rhinoplasty surgeon. You must also check what insurances your surgeon accepts. Good luck!

Answer: Is there any way insurance will pay to correct my crooked nose? Medical insurance will only pay for functional issues such as breathing problem on the internal component of the nose. Medical necessity must be documented and preauthorization must be accomplished prior to any functional surgery. Straightening the nose consider cosmetic, and must be paid for by the patient. Both functional and cosmetic nasal surgery can be performed simultaneously, but expect to pay for the cosmetic component yourself, and co-pays with deductibles will be applied to the insurance component.
