Do I need an alarplasty revision?

Question

6 months ago I had a rhinoplasty+Alarplasty done and the surgeon did not listen to my wishes and made my nose upturned with the nostrils smaller, resulting in it ending botched. If I fix the upturness will that get rid of the triangular nostril shape or will I have to have a Revision Alarplasty too? Thank you

Thank you Skyyylar for your message and for the photos.  I can definitely see how markedly upturned your nose looks but it is a little difficult to fully assess the alar base and nostril shape from the single view I could see.  But, pushing the tip down should not only make the nostrils less visible (you don't really want to stare into nostrils after rhinoplasty) but will likely alter the shape and make them have a more natural appearance.  Alar rim grafts are also helpful as changing the shape of the nostrils and giving them a better look (usually when patient's have alar notching).  A revision alarplasty probably won't be the fix you are seeking unless the nostrils need to be narrower.  I hope that helps.

An alar-plasty simply narrows wide nostrils. The notching of the alar rim may be due to nasal tip cartilages that were altered during the primary rhinoplasty. Its important to wait at least one year before undergoing a revision to allow the entire healing process to be complete before embarking on another procedure. In our practice, we  repair the alar notching with the composite skin graft composed of both skin and cartilage from the ear.
