What is the risk that revision rhinoplasty will give you Michael Jackson results?

Hi doctors, I am strong candidate for a revision rhinoplasty. My primary one left my nose too small and bony. So I need some grafting. I'm so scared as apparently MJ only had 2 operations. I don't need any removal just adding grafts... what's the risk that result will be like MJ and do you experience this frequently in the real life?

Revision rhinoplasty requires exceptional skill on behalf of the surgeon and great communication with the patient about realistic goals and expectations.
Common cosmetic concerns include a dorsal hump, wide nose, sunken nose, irregularities, and asymmetries. Functional concerns include difficulty breathing through the nose, which can and should be addressed at the same time as your rhinoplasty.
In a revision rhinoplasty, cartilage from your septum may have been depleted and therefore often an alternative source of cartilage is needed, such as from the ear. This is just one of the important differences between primary and revision rhinoplasty that need to be discussed in detail before you decide to proceed with surgery. 
Make sure to seek out the care of a board certified surgeon with extensive experience in revision rhinoplasty. Find someone you connect with, who will listen to your concerns and provide you with a framework for what is possible.  
It is understandable that going through another surgery is a bit unnerving, but with one revision rhinoplasty and an experienced surgeon, there is an extremely minimal chance you will have "MJ results."

You can benefit from graft material to lenght your short nose and a harmony can be caught. You need to have a detailed in-person examination to see the alteration from previous rhinoplasty. Risk of nose like Michael Jackson? If you have surgery by an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon the risk is zero! I have done several thousand rhinoplasties and never had a serious complication. MJ has many overdone rhinoplasties and that is why he had that result.

A full set of pictures from all angles and an in-person examination to be required to make a determination about how best to proceed with the revision rhinoplasty. Revision rhinoplasty is more difficult than a primary rhinoplasty due to the fact that there has been previous alterations to the normal anatomy and scar tissue present. It's also important to know how much cartilage is left over on the inside of the nose for potential grafting purposes. Obtain your operative report from the primary rhinoplasty, that you give that to the new surgeon. Digital computer imaging would also be helpful to understand what can and cannot be accomplished with the procedure.

There is no risk of a "Michael Jackson" result after revision rhinoplasty if you work with an experienced revision specialist. It is normal for a patient like you to be overanxious after a failed primary rhinoplasty. I know for a fact that Michael had far more than 2 nasal operations.
