My breasts have a very large size difference one just stopped developing. The small side has little breast tissue and has much smaller areola. The small size stopped developing when I was 13 or 14 and hasn't changed much since except for I put on some weight. The other side continued to grow and develop normally. What causes this and what surgical procedure do you recommend and do you know any surgeons who specialize in asymetry like this. I'm not really wanting reduction to the small size
Answer: Major breast asymmetry. One side just stopped growing. What causes this and what surgical procedure do you recommend? Hi lookinforaboobfix, Every woman has some degree of asymmetry; I remind my patients breasts are “sisters not twins”. In your case, your asymmetry is very significant and I imagine you would find it difficult to find bras and clothing. I would recommend a unilateral breast augmentation (inserting a breast implant into the smaller breast pocket only). Your other breast is very nicely shaped and sized, so I believe just evening out your asymmetry would achieve the result you’re after. You may require a lift 12 months down the track on the other breast to sustain your symmetry, but that would be a matter of waiting and seeing how your breasts settle. You have concerns over the difference between your areolas; I probably wouldn’t touch you nipples surgically to start with as it would leave you with unnecessary scarring, but a revision of your areola could be performed if you had a lift later on. I’d advise to make an appointment with a highly experienced plastic surgeon as your case is quite complex.Hope this has been of some help,Craig

CONTACT NOW Answer: Asymmetry common. Hello and thanks for the post. Asymmetry is common, but in your case your breasts are very different. No one knows exactly why this happens. There are lots of surgery options for you including saline, silicone and MemoryShape breast implants. Best wishes, Dr. ALDO.

Answer: Fixing Breast Asymmetry Hello,The most successful way of improving symmetry is a two stage process that Dr. Mackenzie mentioned. Your breasts don't just differ in volume, they differ in skin surface area as well. Because of the degree of difference, it's best done in two stages. The first is to reduce the volume and skin excess of the larger breast. This is very important so that the larger breast can respond to the increased volume of the implant in the same way that the smaller implant does in a second operation. Also, minor revisions can be performed on the formally larger breast during the second operation if necessary so that the best symmetry can be obtained.Best of luck!

Answer: Different options for correction of breast asymmetry. If you are okay with the volume of your right breast one possible solution would be to augment the left side to match the volume of the right and then perform a mastopexy on the right side to adjust the diameter in position of the areola.
