I’ve been told i need a double jaw surgery+ genioplasty (not by doctors), but I can’t afford it and I already closed my open bite by braces( but still have a gummy smile), so what are the alternatives for my chin and cheeks to look normal? Genioplasty or chin implant? And what about my cheeks that has fat in the lower third of the face and not enough cheekbones definition, is buccal fat removal appropriate or is there other procedures?
Answer: Jaw surgery Dear sally2002, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Based on your photos, it looks like you would benefit from genioplasty. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Getting your profile Straight Sally, Thanks for your pictures. it sounds like you’ve already had orthodontics to correct your bite but still have skeletal (jaw) issues that require surgery. I completely understand that you don’t want to proceed with that type of surgery. The next best thing to do would be a camouflage procedure. I would recommend a sliding genioplasty. This would move your chin forward give you the nice profile that you desire. A sliding genioplasty is a good procedure because it can do so many things. It can change the profile by moving forward or backward to improve facial balance. It can be rotated to improve asymmetries. Seek the opinions of surgeons who can offer you a sliding genioplasty. I hope this helps. Best wishes.

Answer: Chin and Cheek Augmentation With your degree of chin deficiency a sliding genioplasty would be of greater aesthetic benefit for your neck and jawline than a chin implant. For your cheeks their lack of prominences makes the lower cheeks appear fuller which is also magnified by having a short chin. Creating higher/fuller cheekbones with implants works in concert with bring the chin bone forward for improving overall facial shape/proportions. Computer imaging will show you how these types of facial changes will look.

Answer: What are alternatives for jaw surgery, chin implant? Placement of a chin implant is much less invasive than the sliding genioplasty, and is performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure which takes approximately 30 minutes. The Incision for the placement of the chin implant placed underneath the chin.

Answer: Jawline focus on a genioplasty and ideally jaw augmentation as well to 'camouflage' the lower jaw underdevelopment.
