Is it possible to lipo the same area twice if the doctor isn't as aggressive as I hope the first time? (photos)

Hi Sydney,To get a snatched waist you need to have aggressive fat removal of the torso/sides and have fat injections on the hips/buttock to give the illusion of an S Curve. You need a formal evaluation by an expert in body shaping and contouring to determine what is best. The best in body contouring not only removes fat with energy devices like VASER ultrasound but also internally heats the skin with radiofrequency devices such as Renuvion (J-Plasma), InMode BodyTite, and ThermiRF to heat the undersurface of the skin and tighten it at the same time as fat removal. These combinations are called 4D HI-DEF VASER Liposuction and can only be done by a well-trained body contouring specialist. At the same time, fat should be harvested and purified, with PRP and stem cells added, and then injected into muscles, indentations and cellulite to get body shaping and contouring. For a Brazilian butt lift (BBL), we inject the fat into the buttock for contouring and lifting, but fat can also be used in areas such as the chest/breast, arms/shoulders, calves and face. Cellulite should also be treated with a combination of Cellfina, subcision, and/or fillers such as Bellafill, Renuva synthetic fat, or Sculptra. If skin is very loose before surgery, then it will need to be removed: tummy tuck/abdominoplasty for lower abdominal skin; breast lift for excess breast skin; and/or a brachioplasty for loose arm skin.
Overall, you need a full assessment, but simple liposuction alone will not tighten skin and needs a combination of various methods -- fat removal, skin tightening, defining, fat grafting, skin removal -- to get the best in body contouring and body sculpting. It is sometimes best to get multiple opinions if you are in doubt.  However it is done as in person consult to evaluate the soft tissue and fat and shape through a physical exam and to discuss potential to give you exactly what you want.  Ease of communication of expectations is very important

If you are already planning your second touch-up surgery before you have even had your first procedure then there is something wrong.  Perhaps you should get a second (or even a third) opinion from another board-certified plastic surgeon who can examine you in person and review your options with you.  Secondary procedures may sometimes be more difficult because of scar tissue formation following the first procedure.  The use of lasers (SlimLipo or SmartLipo) may improve results on the second go-round if necessary.

yes, it is possible to have a liposuction of the same are twice as long as there is enough fat tissue. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

It is possible to liposuction the same area twice, however it is often more challenging the second time around due to underlying scar tissue and patient perceptions about fat content in those areas. Because you have not had your procedure yet, it is probably better to discuss this upfront so you don’t have to plan on having a revision.   Remember that liposuction is not designed to remove all of the fat in the treated area. It mainly targets the deeper fat to provide improved body contouring.  Oversuctioning can lead to unsatisfactory results.  Discuss your concerns with your surgeon prior to the procedure. Ask him or her what your reasonable expectations can be after the procedure.  Best wishes.

Provided that the area has an adequate fat content, then the same area can be liposuctioned again. A liposuction performed in the same area may be less likely to respond due to nature of scar deposition.  A physical exam by a board certified plastic surgeon will be necessary to determine if that will be the best option.

personally I rarely spot treat any part of the torso without treating the torso as a single and atomic Aesthetic unit.  There are exceptions like people who have extreme fat distributions or have had previous surgery. If liposuction is done to the point of really showing results then untreated areas will not look natural in juxtaposition.  This is simply my philosophy and my approach to body contouring.  I have no idea of the experience or thinking process of your provider.  If he or she is good at liposuction then the results will follow.  If liposuction is done correctly then people should not need a second liposuction procedure.  That's sad there are times where I've been surprised at how much fat I can remove during a second liposuction procedure when at the end of the first procedure it seemed like there was virtually no more fat to be taken.  Aggressive liposuction when done poorly leads to disastrous outcomes that are not possible to correct.  The variance in outcomes from liposuction is greater than any other cosmetic procedure.  Every board-certified plastic surgeon can get through a tummy tuck with reasonably good results.  The same cannot be said for liposuction.  Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
