On suboxone for 6 years, would a surgeon deny me to get a breast augmentation?

Ive been on suboxone 8mg 1x a day for 6 years. I was going thru a clinic for this medication, and stopped going. My fiance is prescribed, and i take his medication. Would a breast surgeon deny doing the surgery on me because of this? Ive wanted this surgery for as long as i could remeber. Im 27 and healthy . Thank you so much for any help you can give.

Your anesthesia provider and your plastic surgeon need to know so that your medications can be managed appropriately. This is usually coordinated with the prescribing physician so the issue is not that you are on suboxone but that you are using someone else's prescription.

I have done successful breast augmentation for patients on suboxone, but the medication needs to be managed by the patient's prescribing doctor.  This will be difficult for you since you are not following with a physician for this medication.  Be honest with your PS and Anesthesiologist because of the use of narcotics for pain management and anesthesia.  Your PS may require that you be under a physician's care for the Suboxone before doing any surgery.  Best of luck to you.

I would be very truthful with your PS.  Having surgery will cause you to have some pain and as you are on suboxone for drug addiction this could pose a problem as narcotics are usually prescribed for pain control.  You are healthy otherwise but this decision will be up to your PS.
