The only way to get rid of intra abdominal fat is to eat healthy and exercise. There is no surgical way of getting rid of intra abdominal fat, Best of luck
Fat under the muscle in the belly area (intra-abdominal fat) is only reduced with diet and exercise and overall weight loss. Any weight loss surgery will also help reduce this fat collection. Sometimes, this is why a plastic surgeon would recommend losing some weight prior to any surgery. The results of a tummy tuck will be limited if there is still excess intra-abdominal fat.
Thank you for your question. The best way to reduce under the muscle belly fat is with weight loss, accomplished through dietary changes and exercise.
Thank you for your excellent question. The fat that is deep to our stomach muscles can only be minimized by a healthy diet and exercise routine. Surgical treatments to improve the appearance of our stomachs can only effect changes to the skin and fat above the muscles, namely the tissue that can be pinched between our fingers. This is the reason plastic surgeons advise patients to reach their desired goal weight prior to surgery as weight loss maximizes results by reducing the amount of fat in both locations, while surgery will enhance weight loss results by permanently removing the fat found above the muscle.
Visceral fat - or the fat beneath the muscle layers - cannot be addressed surgically. However, diet an exercise can effectively reduce these fat deposits and dramatically improve the abdominally contour. Fat and soft tissue above the muscle can be addressed surgically with such procedures as tummy tuck and liposuction.
Intrabdominal or visceral fat, the fat under the muscle, can be reduced through a combination of a healthy diet and exercise.Robert Singer, MD FACSLa Jolla, California
Visceral fat is the fat below the abdominal muscles. As you know, diet and exercise is the only when to reduce it. Liposuction will not treat this. Once you lose the weight you will have a better result with either liposuction or a combination of liposuction with a tummy tuck. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!Dr. Ravi Somayazula
Thank you for the question. As you likely know, surgical intervention will not be helpful when it comes to treating "visceral" adipose tissue; ultimately, careful attention to diet and exercise will be key. As you know, recruiting other professionals such as personal trainers, nutritionists, physicians who specialize in weight loss concerns etc. may be helpful to you. Best wishes as you reach your goals.
Thank you for the question. Intra abdominal fat or fat around the intestines is not accessible by liposuction or tummy tuck. Fat in this area can only be lost by weight loss. Diet and exercise or a weight loss surgical procedure such as gastric sleeve, lap band, gastric bypass etc. can help in this area. Note that in some situations, if a patient has hypertension or diabetes or both and obesity, insurance MAY cover the cost of the weight loss procedure. Insurance does not, however, cover skin removal surgery after the weight loss.Best Wishes, Michael Morrissey,MD
Under the muscle belly fat is best addressed with exercise and diet. After you are at your goal weight, surgery could be discussed. Consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to discuss your options.
With any revision procedure, you should wait at least 6, and even ideally closer to 9-12 months for all scar tissue to soften and resolve before doing more surgery. Abdominoplasty can help but if the subcutaneous fat layer is severely uneven from liposuction, some of it may remain even after...
