Thank you for your question. My advice is to communication all medications that you are taking prior to your procedure. That being said, I ask that my patients avoid asprin and ibuprophen products and that over the counter benadryl is an acceptable medication prior to surgery. Best of luck.
Self treatment of medical problems prior to surgery should be run by your plastic surgeon to be sure they won't complicate or possibly even postpone the surgery. That being said, if the condition you are treating with Benadryl is relatively minor and requires only a few doses and you were my patient, I would not see a problem with taking Benadryl. On the other hand, if this is an ongoing or long lasting medical problem, please be sure to contact your personal plastic surgeon to see if other treatments are appropriate and/or whether your surgery needs to be postponed for reasons of safety.
Hello, generally Benadryl won't affect surgery but it's wise to discuss all medications with you surgeon preoperatively. Also if you are taking Benadryl due to an allergic reaction or other health problem it is best to advise your surgeon.
I would permit my patients to take Benadryl before cosmetic breast surgery, if desired. It's always a good idea though to keep your surgeon in the loop with your medications prior to surgery. Hope this information is helpful. Dr. Ted EisenbergBoard-Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author
Dear vickiegibson078, Always discuss medication questions with your surgeon before surgery. That being said, Benadryl should not pose a problem with your upcoming surgery. Good luck. Dr. Gervais.
Benadryl should not pose a problem with your surgery. It is always a good idea to let your surgeon know what medications you are taking and avoid the ones they don't want you to take--ie, ones that thin the blood and allow for more bruising.
Thanks for your inquiry, if you were my patient I would not have a problem, but you should check with your own surgeon, good luck.
Thank you for your question. You want to avoid medication that thin your blood prior to surgery. Benadryl is fine to take prior to surgery.
Thank you for sharing your question. There should not be any issue with you taking Benadryl 11 days prior to your procedure. Depending on what you are treating it may be best to alert your surgeon. Best wishes.
Benadryl taken days before your breast augmentation with mastopexy surgery will have no effect. Good luck!
You may get some improvement over time. The procedure to lower an implant is easy but then may make the top half of your breasts look uneven if they are even now. Just keep that in mind that breasts are sisters not twins. Good luck!
Dear Thisismee, based on your photos, you would benefit the most from a breast lift. You might also consider a breast augmentation. Determining whether you need simply a breast augmentation versus a breast lift can be somewhat complicated. It depends on a number of factors including skin laxity ...
Thank you for your question. Shopping for the right cosmetic surgeon is a bit like shopping for wine. You don’t want to spend a fortune but you also want something that tastes great and gives you the quality experience you’re looking for. Finding the most qualified surgeon and practice is equa...
Hi! It is normal to wear a post op bra 3-6 weeks after surgery. Keep in mind as time moves on and swelling decreases your original bra will fit more a bit more loose. You should be able to take it off to wash and dry it. If you're not sure I would double check with your surgeon.
Implants placed under the muscle using the dual plane technique commonly develop animation deformity, which is likely what you have. That is because part of the pectoral muscle is detached, and this part of the muscle then adheres to the scar capsule during healing, so contracting the muscle...
