7 weeks following a Lower Facelift, what can I do to help the discomfort where the stitches were.

Some people will have more discomfort than others while healing.  At 7 weeks out you should be feeling pretty good.  If you have buried sutures, these may be trying to extrude so that when you touch the area you can feel a sharp end.  They will dissolve eventually so this will go away.  If they pop through the skin your doctor can remove them.  When we do a facelift the sensory nerves are cut.  So most patients have numbness around the wound.  As the nerves come back you may feel some tingling or even discomfort.  This will also go away as you heal further.   

Generally speaking, it can take 6 to 12 months to completely heal after surgery. Please keep in touch with your surgeon or his/her clinical team to discuss your ongoing concerns.

To experience that much discomfort 7 weeks after your facelift is quite unusual. If everything else is coming along well, I would follow your surgeon's guidelines and observe. Sorry, I simply have not to deal with such issue.  

I'm surprised that you're having such discomfort. Do not massage the scars is this will aggravate the inflammation. Cool compresses will provide temporary relief. I would also keep in close touch with your plastic surgeon.

weeks to months, causing bumps or asymmetries to appear. There can be some minor discomfort during this period. In San Diego, we monitor our patients closely
for one year to address any issues. Follow up with your surgeon to check if this
is swelling versus something else and if treatment is indicated. Best of Luck.

Facelifts in general do not usually cause a lot of pain. It is unusual to have stitch discomfort at this point, best to review with your surgeon.
