How long should I wait to shower after Botox?

My usual instructions for post Botox activity incudes no rubbing or pressing, no laying down flat, no sleeping, and no working out for the 4 hours following the injection.  I give no restrictions for bathing/showering.

Botox is a well tolerated procedure that is administered directly to the muscle and so does not curtail most normal activities. A shower the same night after Botox is fine. Alcohol, in moderation, is also fine. Please consult a board-certified dermatologist who can work with you, helping you to understand your treatments and how to get the most out of them in the long term.

Botox injections typically have minimal aftercare.  I do recommend my patients refrain from laying down for 4 hours following their injections and wait 24 hours before working out.  By all means, feel free to shower anytime following your Botox treatment.  I would just refrain from rubbing or massaging the areas injected.Best of luck,Dr. Philip Solomon, Solomon Facial Plasti

Hello, you can take a shower after botox.  I wouldn't manipulate the area that was injected.  I would give yourself 24 hours post treatment to get back in the gym.  The best part of Botox is there really is no restriction aside from keeping your head at a level position... and waiting to go to the gym.

Great question. If you read the instructions on the botox pamplet there are several restrictions but there is no scientific reason for most of them. I tell my patients to go back to normal activity and life right after the botox injections. You can shower, have a drink or go to gym any time after the botox injections.

Hello and thanks for the question.  I generally do not have any major restrictions for my patients  undergoing botox injections. Showering after botox shouldn't really cause any issues.  Going to the gym and drinking alcohol are generally fine, essentially immediately after botox injections.  
I do prefer my patients avoid massaging the areas of injection so as not to alter the injection site. Otherwise basically you can resume all normal activity after injections.  I would recommend conferring with your doctor specifically though to get their suggestions as well.

Thank you for your question. There is no restriction of showering or bathing after your botox treatment, you can do that immediately.

Great questions Tara! You are able to resume all of those activities right after Botox. You may take a hot shower the day of the injection, however, do not put too much pressure or rub too hard on the injection site for about a day. You may also resume any sort of exercise as normal and have a drink if desired. We used to warn patients to be careful with those things but have found it makes no difference afterwards.  Hope this helps!

Botox goes into the muscle, not the skin, so it can’t be washed away. Just don’t rub your face for a few hours, because you don’t want to dissipate the neuromodulator. Feel free to take a shower any time after your Botox. You can exercise, too, but I wouldn’t recommend too many inversions the first few hours because it might cause swelling. A board-certified dermatologist should give you clear recommendations about how to get the most out of your Botox after your treatment.

One of the great benefits of BOTOX treatment is that there is minimal aftercare with regard to downtime or activity restrictions. I typically request my patients not to rub the injection area for the rest of the day after injection. You could shower after the injection, but would be careful about manipulating the injection site. You may want to skip your workout until the day after the injection but can resume thereafter. It's also good to avoid taking blood-thinning substances, such as aspirin or alcohol, for a couple days before and after to reduce risk of bruising if you can.
