Can I get Botox after having taken Tetralysal for cystic acne?

Question

I was prescribed Tetralysal by my dermatologist for cystic acne and I've also had a hydro cortisone injection for a cyst near my mouth. I'm no longer taking Tetralysal but I just wanted to know if I will be ok to get Botox on my '11' lines? I'm only 24 but I have visible lines between my eyebrows without frowning. Any help appreciated!

Yes, you can proceed with the Botox treatment to the glabella wrinkles. Your recent antibiotic treatment and cortisone injection will not interfere or react with the Botox.

I recommend a consultation with a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon for your Botox treatment so that the injection can be performed by someone qualified with proper technique. However, based on the information you have provided, your known risks of adverse side effects from Botox treatment should not be changed by the acne treatment.

Yes, it's absolutely okay for you to get Botox treatment. The prior antibiotic treatment will have no effect on your Botox results. Good luck!

There is no known contraindication to use Botox after or even during acne treatment with antibiotics. There is some evidence, that acne can even improve in the are where Botox was injected. So go ahead and get it if you feel that you need it, to prevent your frown lines from getting deeper.

Although there are 376 drugs that have possible interactions with Botox, the one you were concerned about, Tetralysal, isn't one of them. Hyrdocortisone injection or oral prednisone also don't have any effect on Botox effects or metabolism.
It's okay - it's safe to have a beautiful line-free face with Botox!
