Back/sides of neck hair for 500 FUE grafts? (Photo)

Question

So i'm planning to get around 500 FUE grafts to thicken up my goatee. Now i have what looks like a couple hundred hairs on the lower neck and sides of neck. Could these be used as part of the 500 grafts ? They grow in odd directions and cause me to get ingrown hairs so maybe i can kill 2 birds with 1 stone ? Also i would like to avoid minimal grafts coming from the back of my head since i shave it with a razor. Thanks.

The areas that you have identified are outside of the “safe donor zone”-meaning they are susceptible to the effects of genetics and hormones and would not be permanent hairs.So I would not recommend using that area for transplant.

Neck hair is not considered a permanent donor area.  FUE also leave round scars that may be noticeable around the neck.

Yes - provided to surgical staff can harvest them correctly. Do your homework before you commit. Your best bet is to choose an ISHRS surgical team. Even then, investigate before you commit.

We never harvest grafts from the lower neck area. There is an area in the back of the head that is called the donor zone. A good doctor with experience should harvest from that area for optimal results.

It is never a good idea to use neck hair for donor hair because it is not permanent and this area scars badly
