8 days post hernia laparoscopy repair and very very swollen, misshapen & sore. Is this normal?

I had umbilical hernia repair 8 days ago, using mesh by laparoscopy I am still very very swollen and sore. One of the smaller wounds is open when I removed the dressing. Is all this normal or should I be worried? Thanks

Hi there, it is really hard to tell without pictures or a good physical exam. Usually after a laproscopic hernia repair you will be sowllen and bruised. The small incision opening is a minor issue, that should heal well. The right thing to do is go back in for a post operative visit and have your surgeon check on you. That will give peace of mind hopefully. Good luck and a speedy recovery.
