8 days post hernia laparoscopy repair and very very swollen, misshapen & sore. Is this normal?

I had umbilical hernia repair 8 days ago, using mesh by laparoscopy I am still very very swollen and sore. One of the smaller wounds is open when I removed the dressing. Is all this normal or should I be worried? Thanks

You can get the tape off using olive oil spread over it for several minutes,Gently peel off, adding more olive oil to separate it from skin as needed,Either cover with paper tape or leave open.It is ok to get the incisions wet - but tape may keep it from catching on clothes.Best wishes.

Your photo suggests poor healing in the incision,It appears to be small and in the middle of the incision - the usual place,Keep the area clean and covered and call your surgeon.Minor healing problems can occur. Good early care and patience gets them healed. Best wishes.

Thanks for sharing your photos.There are many types of variation to the tummy tuck procedure, and certain modifications are appropriate in select patients.  Much depends on preoperative communication, and I make sure to review photos and incisions planned with patients.Follow up closely...
