Do I have the early stages of necrosis? (Photo)

Question

I had a full tummy tuck on the 14 feb 2014 along with a breast uplift and lipo on my flanks. There's an area that has blistering and discolouration. Is this necrosis? Or am I being paranoid? I don't smoke or drink. I don't have high bp or diabetes.

This could be a very small area of ischemia and necrosis, but it appears to be quite small. If the area of concern does not increase in size, it should heal just fine without any problems. More likely, this is just a small area of blistering. I would not be too concerned about this at this point. Be sure to let your surgeon see the area at your next follow up appointment.

Dear smeeta,The tissue in question does seem to be struggling.  Its hard to tell from the photo if its superficial (involving the top portion of the skin) or full thickness.  I would keep yourself well hydrated and seek your plastic surgeons advice as he/she will need to evaluate you in person to make the best recommendation.All the best,Dr. Remus Repta

You should see your surgeon to be evaluated. It is a small area of necrosis. This will take some time to heal and your PS can advise you on wound care.
