breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small.You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.

Hello, thank you for your question. A board certified plastic surgeon will be able to guide you to the correct size implant. Based upon measurements of your chest wall and breast imprint width as well as knowledge of all breast implant sizes and profiles should make this process easy. Try on a profile bra with various silicone sizers your PS recommends under a tailored blouse, tank top, bikini, workout clothes, and other garments you typically wear so that you have the best idea of whether the garments fit as desired with the implant selected. Select the size that boosts your self-esteem, and fits your anatomy. Choosing an implant based on an aesthetic goal that exceeds your anatomic capacity may lead to complications and possibly revision later in life.

After I measure and discuss goals with my patients, we then look at pictures of former patients with similar measurements with different size and style breast implants. My patients tell me that this process is very helpful in determining what size breast implant is right for them. They also get to see what they would look like when the implants have fully dropped and fluffed and in clothes. You get to see actual results and the surgeon's experience and not a virtual idea of what can be achieved.

Based on your photos, it seems that you have symmetrical breasts for which you wish to add more volume. There are many ways that plastic surgeons perform measurements in order to determine which breast implant size, style and shape will best suit your goals. It is important that you communicate to your board-certified plastic surgeon what are expecting, to make certain that your goals are realistic. It's helpful to show pictures of results you'd like, but please keep in mind that these are other people and your body is different from everybody. In my office, we use a method of sizing with silicone gel forms of known volumes. This is proven to be a very accurate means of determining what size will might be of additional interest to you as well.
Know that the size, profile, and shape of the implant is based on your desired breast size/shape, your chest wall measurements, and soft tissue quality.  This decision should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon.

Good afternoon!I use a lot of XHPs and patients love them- I think 550cc XHP sounds about right based on your current and wish pics!

Implants are not lifetime devices.  8% fail within the first year and 30% fail within six years.  At size 32 B, each 100 cc of implant corresponds to 1 cup size change.  600 cc implants will take you up 6 cup sizes.  Implants this large could not fit retro-pectoral so they will be in front of the muscle.  Implants in front of the muscle have a higher risk of capsular contracture and descent.  You need to reconsider much smaller implants, if you want long term stability and avoid complications.Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.

You are a great candidate for a breast augmentation.  600cc is a large implant size.  The size, profile, and shape of the implant is based on your desired breast size/shape, your chest wall measurements, and soft tissue quality.  This decision should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon.  Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.

Unless you are evaluated in person by an experienced board certified plastic surgeon it is neither accurate nor responsible of us to be able to respond to your question with any specificity. Two different plastic surgeons may come up with two different recommendations for you based on many factors not the least of which might include slightly different measurements as well as different opinions as to how to best help you achieve your desired outcome. Volume (300 versus 400), is far less significant than implant width and projection. Saline versus silicone is also important, as is "round" versus "anatomical" or "form stable" or "shaped". Because all of these options to consider can leave you quite confused, it is crucial that you select an experienced board certified plastic surgeon whose aesthetics align with your own, and with whom you feel comfortable. Don't be reluctant to seek a second or even third opinion to be sure and feel confident. Make sure that your surgeon sees photographs of your "favorites" or ideal. Expressing your desired cup size is notoriously inaccurate, and final breast size is the most common reason for patient disappointment after breast augmentation, either too big or not big enough.Take your time, do your research. Dear Virginian,   Thanks for posting your pictures and your wish pictures. From observing your pictures you appear 32 small A cup size. Your wish pictures appear to be D cup size. For you to become 32 D cup size you will need implants with volume of 450 cc. For 32 full D - 500 cc.   Sizers are not helpful to obtain the real look, because placement of the implants under the muscles gives a totally different and more natural look. Your surgeon should be able to determine the final look and size based on your chest and breasts circumference measurements in inches and your desire.   I have been in practice for over 32 years and performed breasts augmentation surgery on thousands of patients. Based on that experience, I would recommend smooth, round, moderate profile saline implants made by Mentor. The best technique to achieve nice cleavage is entry incision along the sub areola line.     Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who operate in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most importantly, check the before and after pictures in the photo gallery to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive with nice cleavage , perky, symmetrical and natural looking.                       Best of luck,                                          Dr Widder

Hello!I think as long as you tried on sizers and are happy with the outcome, then you should be good as far as the size goals being met. However, you look like you do not have much skin laxity and it might be challenging to get a high profile implant to fit you at the time of surgery. Furthermore, you look slim and it may be that the higher volume - 600cc - is too wide for your chest. The 550 HP is already adding significant volume to your breast size. You should circle back to your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns. This will assure that you get the outcome you desire. Best of luck to you!
