Yes, you can have Coolsculpting, but it is recommended to not place applicators over the hernia. Keep in mind, for best results with Coolsculpting, a combination approach is needed. I recommend adding radiofrequency treatments like Vanquish, Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra for skin tightening and with Z wave/Cellutone for skin smoothing. However, a Vaser with ThermiRF procedure is the best combination for a toned result, but requires more downtime. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
Thank you for your interest and question. Having a hernia in or adjacent to the treatment site iscontraindicated for Coolsculpting. Thereis a chance that Coolsculpting could exacerbate a pre-existing hernia. Coolsculpting could still be an option foryou for other areas such as flanks, inner & outer thighs, the bra area, arms or fat deposits under the chin.
Depending on which areas you want to treat with CoolSculpting, you can still get a good result even with the hernia. Just be sure your physician does not place the applicator on or around the hernia; you don’t want to make it worse. Be sure to tell him or her about it before your procedure, too. If the hernia is limited to the navel area you should be able to CoolSculpt around it quite nicely. Be sure to consult a board-certified dermatologist who has medical as well aesthetic expertise to handle this case of CoolSculpting.
Thank you for your excellent question. It is still safe to undergo a CoolSculpting procedure, however the applicator cannot be placed in the exact location of the hernia. You can mention the umbilical hernia at your CoolSculpting consultation, and voice any other concerns that you may have in regards to the procedure. Best of luck with your CoolSculpting experience!
CoolSculpting should not be performed over the area of a hernia, as it could worsen the hernia. It may be possible to treat around a hernia though.
Thank you for your question. Yes, you can still have Coolsculpting. However, the applicators cannot be placed in the area of a hernia. You will need to make your treating physician aware of a hernia so proper care is taken. Please make sure you are seeing an expert. Best of Luck
While other sites may be 'good to go,' it is not a good idea to CoolSculpt the area over a hernia.
Hello, although most umbilical hernias are small and very unlikely to have problems even with the applicator placed over the hernia, most cool sculpting treatments of the abdomen don't include the belly button. It's recommended to avoid the hernia, a physician should examine the hernia and be aware of it and will avoid it. Good luck with your treatment!
Make sure whomever is doing your CoolSculpting markings and placing the applicators is aware of your hernia. The applicators should be well away from the hernia. Make sure that you are having CoolSculpting done at a practice with a physician, not a medical spa, so that a physician who is an expert in Coolsculpting and knows about hernias examines you first. As a physician with 20 years of practice in obstetrics and gynecology, I am very familiar with umbilical hernias, which often occur during pregnancy. I have repaired many hernias at other surgeries so am quite familiar with hernias and how the look under the surface.
Thank you for your question. Although, it is rare some patients may experience darkening of the skin after Coolsculpting treatment and it should resolve on its own. Protecting the area from the sun is a must as it can cause pigment changes. I recommend following up with your physician with your...
Zeltiq has developed a number of new applicators for their popular and effective CoolSculpting system, so we can now treat almost every fatty area on the body. I’ve had very good results removing back fat such as yours; in fact it is one of my favorite places for CoolSculpting. CoolSculpting c...
Combining CoolSculpting and Vanquish can be very effective for eliminating fat pockets plus creating an overall sleeker, slimmer look. Vanquish doesn’t touch your body at all. You can get both procedures on the same day. Be sure to consult a board-certified dermatologist who is an expert with b...
