Back fat. Does CoolSculpting really work? (Photo)

Question

I feel very insecure about my back fat. Is a back fat tuck similar to a tummy tuck but on your back but kind of like on the sides? I feel it may be a result of too much spiced rum over the years but could also be a result of not enough cardio or maybe even just hereditary. Does cool sculpting really work?

Zeltiq has developed a number of new applicators for their popular and effective CoolSculpting system, so we can now treat almost every fatty area on the body. I’ve had very good results removing back fat such as yours; in fact it is one of my favorite places for CoolSculpting. CoolSculpting creates a slight skin-tightening effect as the fat leaves the body and the skin contracts to accommodate for the lesser volume. 
About 20% to 35% of fat can be removed at a time. The higher number is only possible when using Zimmer Z-wave radial pulsed therapy directly afterward to maximize results. At times, if the entire back needs to be treated and there is quite a bit of fat, I would recommend tumescent liposculpture with laser tightening. This is more efficient and cost effective than the multiple sessions it would take with CoolSculpting to get the same results and it can be done gently, without general anesthesia. Please find a board-certified dermatologist who is certified by Zeltiq and also is an expert with tumescent liposculpture to help you reduce your back fat.

For best results with shaping the back, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction, which can be performed at the same time as a back lift, if you're a candidate. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. Hi. Thanks for sharing your pic.  In order to get maximum improvement, I would use liposuction and JPlasma skin tightening to improve your back.  You will require many coolsculpting cycles to minimize the excess fat, and probably have to repeat it multiple times--without gaining skin tightening---and likely will cost more time and money than liposuction.  A tuck will leave unnecessary scars, and is best tried when the primary issue is excess skin, not fat.  Be sure to see an ABPS certified PS for a thorough examination and discussion of the pros/cons of the options. Yes CoolScultping does work for the right candidate! CoolSculpting gives a 25% redcution per treatment for better contour. It looks like you have more volume and depending on your overall goal you may be a better liposuction candidate. If you are truly looking for a non-invasive procedure CoolSculpting is it! You will most likely need more than one treatment for the best results.

CoolSculpting does help to reduce back fat but it is ideally suited for individuals who are at or near their ideal body weight.  CoolSculpting can help to reduce isolated areas of unwanted fat in these patients.  Based on your photo, I would recommend weight loss before undergoing CoolSculpting.

CoolSculpting can be done on the area of concern if there is enough grab of subcutaneous tissue to create a vacuum seal. It is not a replacement for diet and exercise, but would reduce stubborn fat. Many of my patient's have had great results treating the back bulge.

Coolsculpting really does work...for the right patient.  We have had great results with back, flank and bra fat but so much is dependent on who we're treating. As may have already read, Coolsculpting is ideal for people who are at or near their goal weight and have a very distinct (well defined) section of fluffy, soft fat. Looking at your photos, you don't seem like an ideal candidate.  You'd get your best answer by having an in-office consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon that can discuss surgical and non-surgical options with you.

CoolSculpting is a very effective treatment for patients who are concerned with upper and lower bulges in the back bra area as long as you are good candidate for the treatment. Patients typically need at least two treatments for optimum results.  I would recommend being evaluated in a cosmetic surgeons office, so that you have the opportunity to learn about all of your options.
