Marks are possible with CoolSculpting? 2 months since procedure. (Photo)

Question

I got my cool sculpting done on my upper and lower tummy and on the sides. It’s been two months now. I do see some results but I still feel that my stomach is bigger than usual and although I see a difference on my sides, that being one concern. I see a mark left behind by the machine! And I went back to my doc and she said it’s never happened before, she did do a dermamelan peel on the area (2weeks back) and now it’s become more prominent. I am really concerned. Any advice?

This is very rare, but can happen after treatment with the newer CoolAdvantage applicators. It actually happened to me when I did the treatment on myself! But, don't worry mine went away after about a month. It may take longer, but yours will most likely go away too. Using brightening creams and sunscreen will help. If the peel made it worse, then I wouldn't do anything too aggressive to get rid of it. Time is your friend. As for the other issues, I would recommend following up with your treatment provider. This can be improved with a combination of lasers, Aerolase, microneedling/prp, skin lightening, peels, and skin care. Sun protection is essential. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question. Although, it is rare some patients may experience darkening of the skin after Coolsculpting treatment and it should resolve on its own. Protecting the area from the sun is a must as it can cause pigment changes. I recommend following up with your physician with your concerns. Best of Luck!

Though extremely uncommon, some patients do get some staining on the skin after treatment but the great news is that is goes away on its own over time.   If you are going in the sun, cover the discolored area or avoid sun  exposure.  Sun exposure may cause the areas to darken and then take longer to resolve.  As for concerns about the abdomen area being bigger after the procedure, you would have to review the before and after pics with your provider for any feedback.  Best of luck

If there is any marks after coolsculpting, first make sure go back to your doctor, Silvadene cream will help to protect your skin. Then your doctor can give you some steroid cream to decrease inflammation and after 2-3 months can start triple cream (steroid, bleeching and retin -A) after there is no inflammation and after 6-8 weeks you can get IPL treatment to get red of some broken capillaries and pigmentation.
