This 39 year-old female was diagnosed with left sided breast cancer. Because of her high risk of developing breast cancer on the opposite side, she opted for bilateral mastectomies. The removal of the breast tissue was performed through an incision on the bottom of the breast (i.e. the inframammary fold). In order to prevent the animation deformity that is sometimes seen in submuscular breast reconstruction, the MENTOR ARTOURA Breast Tissue Expanders were placed in the prepectoral position and covered with Alloderm. Several months later, the expanders were replaced with the most advanced, new MemoryGel XTRA silicone implants. A small amount of fat transfer to help contour the upper portion of the breast was performed as a minor procedure several months later. Postoperative result at 1 year shows excellent symmetry and shape, preservation of the nipple tissue, all designed to the patients desire to also increase breast volume.

Woman treated with Breast Lift and Breast Reduction through removal of 500g of tissues from each breast and reconstruction for a smaller and more youthful position. Patient had been struggling for years with back and shoulder pain due to her large breasts.

Woman treated with Breast Reduction 

40 year old woman, mother of two (by C-section), treated with Breast Reduction through removal of 150 grams of tissue on the left side and 95 grams of tissue on the right, using vertical (lollipop) technique, thus avoiding the horizontal incisions under the breasts. Tummy Tuck and Breast Lift were also performed. Pre-op, patient noted that after her pregnancies, she had significant drooping of her breasts and stretching of the abdomen. Patient was unhappy with the shape and size of her breasts, as well as the asymmetry of her areolas. Patient wished to go from a 36C cup down to a large B cup. Patient also reported neck and back pain which she felt was due to her breasts.

	Breast Reduction is done under general anesthesia. Incisions are made around the pigmented area (the nipple areolar complex) and extend vertically below the nipple and in the fold under the breast. The nipple areolar complex is moved upward to the desired location, while excess breast tissue, skin, and fat are removed.


Patient is 5'5 , 160 pounds and consulted with Dr. Schaffer about improving the appearance of her breasts. Breast Reduction surgery was recommended to reduce the size and weight of the breasts.
