Gynecomastia or male breast reduction corrects the over-developed or enlarged breasts of men. Breast Reduction is done under general anesthesia. Incisions are made around the pigmented area (the nipple areolar complex) and extend vertically below the nipple and in the fold under the breast. The nipple areolar complex is moved upward to the desired location, while excess breast tissue, skin, and fat are removed.

18 Year Old Male Underwent Male Breast Reduction

This gentleman in his late 30s presented with gynecomastia. It is abnormal growth of breast tissue in men and is much more common than most people think. He had an ultrasound assisted liposuction and excision of the gynecomastia through a lateral liposuction port site. No incisions were made around the nipple or areola. These pictures are taken in the early recovery period.

39 year old male who complained of large breasts with the right being larger than the left. He had a male breast reduction for his gynecomastia. The incision was through the inferior areola. His postoperative photo is 7 weeks after surgery. His height is 5 feet 9 inches and weight is 190 lbs. The right side had 138 grams removed and the left side had 94 grams removed.

Gynecomastia - In this case, it's unilateral, just on the right.  More often it's two sided. Besides removing the breast tissue, we needed to relocate and reduce the size of the nipple/areola complex.
