Breast Reduction

The patient is a 31-year-old female who presented to my office with complaints of back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, bra strap grooving and difficulty with physical activities due to the extremely large and pendulous nature of her breasts. I felt the patient would be an excellent candidate for bilateral breast reduction and expected this would give the patient dramatic improvement in her physical symptoms. (Please note that the irregularities of her abdomen are due to overly-aggressive liposuction performed by another surgeon). During surgery I performed an anchor scar breast reduction due to the large size of her breasts. On the right side a total of 570 grams were resected and on the left side, the breast was naturally larger and as a result 710 grams of tissue were resected. The patient recovered well.

Patient is 5'5 , 160 pounds and consulted with Dr. Schaffer about improving the appearance of her breasts. Breast Reduction surgery was recommended to reduce the size and weight of the breasts.

Breast Reduction without implantsOur beautiful patient is just 1 week post-op after undergoing reduction mammaplasty. 586 grams were removed from the right breast, and 490 grams were removed from left breast.

This 39 year-old female was diagnosed with left sided breast cancer. Because of her high risk of developing breast cancer on the opposite side, she opted for bilateral mastectomies. The removal of the breast tissue was performed through an incision on the bottom of the breast (i.e. the inframammary fold). In order to prevent the animation deformity that is sometimes seen in submuscular breast reconstruction, the MENTOR ARTOURA Breast Tissue Expanders were placed in the prepectoral position and covered with Alloderm. Several months later, the expanders were replaced with the most advanced, new MemoryGel XTRA silicone implants. A small amount of fat transfer to help contour the upper portion of the breast was performed as a minor procedure several months later. Postoperative result at 1 year shows excellent symmetry and shape, preservation of the nipple tissue, all designed to the patients desire to also increase breast volume.

	Breast Reduction is done under general anesthesia. Incisions are made around the pigmented area (the nipple areolar complex) and extend vertically below the nipple and in the fold under the breast. The nipple areolar complex is moved upward to the desired location, while excess breast tissue, skin, and fat are removed.

This patient is a 23-year-old female who presented to my&nbsp;office with complaints of symptomatic macromastia including back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, bra strap grooving and difficulty finding bras that fit properly. I felt the patient would benefit from bilateral breast reduction using a superomedial pedicle and an inverted T-scar skin resection pattern. The patient wished to be on the small side of the spectrum and I felt she would benefit greatly from a breast reduction both aesthetically and functionally. During surgery I performed a breast reduction and 675 grams were removed from the right breast and 743 grams from the left. She recovered well.
