Your upper lateral incisors do have excessive gum tissue over them, preventing the normal crown length of those teeth from showing. It is most likely that this tissue will not recede to the proper level. You will most likely need some gum tissue trimming after your orthodontic treatment. That is a very simple procedure and usually performed by a periodontist. Until then the best thimg you can do is keep the gum tiisue clean and free of irritation (which can exacerbate the situation).
Unfortunately you have waited too long to consider a palatal expander. That option is only possible if the upper jaw is still not fused together (which usually happens at age 17). I use the Damon braces appliance system (cemented braces) and that can be successful in resolving slightly constricted palatal problems. However nothing removable is going to help the constricted upper jaw you display and give you a good stable result. You also display a significant shift in the front midline of your lower teeth compared to your upper teeth. This complicates the issues you present with. It is difficult to evaluate in the pictures provided but you appear to have a skeletal lower jaw problem which aligns the lower jaw a little to your left. Some orthodontists may talk about surgery to correct the constricted upper jaw size while addressing the anterior midline discrepancy. You can use Invisalign to make your front teeth look straighter but it will not resolve the constricted jaw problem and asymmetry, which is really the culprit in causing your crowded teeth situation in the first place. Your problem is complex and I suggest you see a qualified, university trained orthodontist to discuss your options and expectations.
There are many options in treatment today for adults as well as children. The first step is to make an appointment with a university trained orthodontist who is board certified. This is an important step - only orthodontists have the training to treat complex cases with optimum results. At the examination appointment photos, x-rays and study models would be taken. When all records have been obtained, the doctor will make measurements of the jaws and teeth, as well as look at your profile. He or she will then create a treatment plan to change the bite relationship, straighten the teeth and give you a beautiful smile. I would urge you to seek an orthodontist in your area and begin treatment so that you can have a beautiful, healthy, confident smile that will change your life. Most orthodontists have no interest payment plans, and accept credit cards, care credit or other means of payment to make it easier to start treatment.
It is never too late to begin Orthodontic treatment. Moving teeth to correct a dental bite problem will help create a more confident, beautiful smile. Peridontal problems can also be corrected because straight teeth allow for better cleaning and result in healthy gums. Sometimes extraction of teeth is necessary in order to create the space needed for tooth movement. It might be possible to treat a patient without extraction - a 2nd opinion would be in order.
