I had a deep dental cleaning 5 weeks ago and have visited the dentist twice with this problem and they dont see anything wrong, even with X rays. The gum was giving me problems before going in but they said after removing plaque, that it should go down in a week. The crown is 10 years old and isnt loose, but it causes me pain daily at this point. Its had a root canal and I floss it every night & Last night I noticed bleeding. Do they need to remove the crown and look under it? Im at a loss.
Got a temp crown on two teeth last week, and later in the day my dentist went on vacation until next week. I have been dealing with pain that worsens at night, trouble chewing, and swollen, red, sometimes bleeding gums. The initial decay was below the gumline so I understand a bit of irritation, but my gums weren't this red before. I also had a strip of dead tissue along the top of my gums come off and noticed some cement embedded. Could I be having a reaction to the cement? Or is it infected?
Aside from the swelling, it is extremely painful to chew when food gets in between the crown and touches my swollen gums. Also my gums are receding the crown in that i see black at the gum line of my crown. I have no idea what is happening. Eating harder foods is very difficult! Help!
I had a crown prep and temporary crown placed 6 days ago and have had some pain since then. It feels like a throbbing pain and like if I put pressure on it, it will feel better. When I do put pressure on it I get a zing of pain but the throbbing subsides for a short time. I do have some swelling in my face and the pain is getting worse. I woke up last night with the whole side of my face throbbing. My dentist called in some antibiotics and says I don't need to come in, should I go in anyway?
I chipped a molar tooth (#19, bottom left side) a few months back, got a root canal about 5 weeks ago (favorable prognosis) with an endodontist since my dentist doesnt perform them on molars. And the more permanent crown was done by my dentist 2 weeks ago. There was swelling initially but went down. But the last few days its been sore and gums are swollen. Is this normal or could something more serious be going on? I have a follow up in two more months but nervous to wait?
Have had pain in this tooth for a couple of weeks previous and a swelling of the gum above the tooth for a couple of weeks, I'm hoping the dentist will see me tomorrow and be able to re fit the crown easily enough. The pain has subsided since the crown has fallen out..... I'm thinking maybe abscess? If this is the case will the dentist be able to re fit the crown or will the abscess complicate the matter?
I had crown lengthening today to correct an uneven gum line. But immediately after surgery my gum line still looks VERY crooked - the low gum teeth are now very high compared to the ones I wanted to match them to. The doctor says the gum line will come down after swelling subsides. Is this likely? I feel very disappointed right now.
i got a crown 6 days ago. its very sensitive hot or cold and bite. there is always mild pain in crown area along with swelling in the gums of the crown placement. i take advil and all pains go away. when advil wears out pain comes back. is this normal
I had permanent crowns placed on my front teeth 7-10 no pain with the temporaries just some gum swelling and irritation. My permanent crowns were placed and now one of my teeth is having severe pain to the lightest touch. I had the dentisit adjust the bite but now I am having pain go from the tooth to my lip, nose and sinus area and the left side of my face is starting to swell. There was no mention of a possible need for a root canal at any point per X-rays or my exam.
