12 months ago I had a mole removed from my jawline. After the stitches were removed I was upset at the dog ears that had formed either side of the scar. I was told to give it time to heal and massage daily. Its now been a year, I massage daily and use a silicone gel. And whilst the scar has improved, I still have the dog ears. Can someone please explain what causes them and if they will improve anymore? Also, why would a surgeon cut vertically along a jawline and not horizontal?
I had a punch excision performed on one of cheek my moles on April 6. Right after the surgery I noticed the typical appearance of dog ears on both ends of the scars. My surgeon took out the stitches today (it seems like 11 days are quite long time but I assume it's because the wound is in an area which is under a lot of tension). I would like to know how bad my case is as of today. Would I need revision or is there still hope for the raised excess skin to flatten out? Thanks a lot!
I had a large mole removed on my face- above my lips 6 months ago. The PS removed the mole using a punch biopsy. I was assured by the PS that they would flatten out but haven't and they don't look like they will. The PS recommends extending the scar further to solve the dogear problem but I am getting married in 3 months and don't want to be left with a worse problem on my face. What would be the best course of action at this point? Do lasers work?
Had scar revision on face after mole removal. A dog ear removed and scar underneath due to indent. Was told to start silicone sheets. Held off, only started at 4 1/2 weeks post surgery. Concerned, as part of incision you see surgical line indent, slight depression next to it. Its filling in the past weeks. Second application of silicone sheet, when I removed it, it pulled up skin. Now depression and line is more pronounced. Will new skin fill in or is that part of healing over with?
I had a mole excision on my face next to my lip about three months ago. The surgeon advised the dog years from the surgery should go down, she advised she's never had a case where they haven't. She also mentioned mentioned typically after three months I should see a dramatic improvement. So far, I haven't. The surgeon advised she would not make any revisions until one years time, however I'm really self-conscious about it. What is the likelihood of them going down in a year if they look this?
