Could silicone sheets pull up new skin when removal 5 weeks post surgery?

Had scar revision on face after mole removal. A dog ear removed and scar underneath due to indent. Was told to start silicone sheets. Held off, only started at 4 1/2 weeks post surgery. Concerned, as part of incision you see surgical line indent, slight depression next to it. Its filling in the past weeks. Second application of silicone sheet, when I removed it, it pulled up skin. Now depression and line is more pronounced. Will new skin fill in or is that part of healing over with?

Localized swelling is not uncommon and ice can be helpful. If BOTH lips are swollen, it may be unrelated to the biopsy and may represent an allergy or angioedema. I recommend that you contact your physician IMMEDIATELY. If you develop shortness of breath, call 9-1-1.

This appears to be a basal cell carcinoma rather than a mole. In fact, with an opening as demonstrated in the picture, this is consistent with a so-called rodent ulcer...a particular aggressive form of a basal cell carcinoma. I would strongly urge you to consult with a dermatologist or plastic...

Any surgery can leave a mark, some heal better than others. I frequently do either laser or radiowave removal of moles with no scars or shave removal with laser. I suggest seeing a cosmetic dermatologist with expertise in scars and mole removal.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Face sutures can come out in 5-7 days.  Scar gel should be used after for at least 3 months followed by laser treatments if needed. Best, Dr. Emer.
