I am looking into both accutane and cosmetic surgery (lipo, breast fat transfer, possible tummy tuck). Is there a recommendation for how long after surgery you would need to wait before starting accutane (or vice versa) to prevent worse scarring?
I've been on dianette for acne for a very long time but due to my age my GP has said I've got less than a year left on it. I still get cystic acne but it's not too bad. Every time I've tried coming off it my skin has been terrible with cystic acne and I've had some bad scarring as a result. I think I'll have to give in and take accutane but as I've spend 1000s on treatments for my indented scars I really don't want to purge. Would a very low dose over a long period of time eliminate the risk?.
I went to a dermatologist a month ago expressing my concerns with scarring/texture, red marks, and acne. While scarring was my main issue, the PA instantly said accutane saying it will fill in my scars (which I know is not true.) I don't believe my acne is that severe to be put on accutane. I also have several fresh piercings and I don't want them to reject and get affected. Is there any way I can treat my cystic acne, scarring, and red marks WITHOUT going on accutane? Thx!
I have been on 20 mg of accutane for just over a week, for sebaceous hyperplasia. I was just told, it is not sebaceous hyperplasia, but in fact scars. Do I still have to wait 6 months for laser resurfacing, since I have been on it such a short time? I am very thankful for your time!
Am 29 yrs old and I had good skin previously. But since I took a birth pill my face has just flared up and become very greasy. Iam right now on 30 mgs of accutane ( am 53 kilos ) and it's been 2 and half months. Haven't seen any improvements. Rather there's more scarring and breakouts evryday.
I'm just about to finish my course of Roaccutane and my dermatologist told me he recommends waiting for one and a half years after stopping Roaccutane to wax or have laser hair removal due to the risk of scarring. I haven't had overly sensitive or dry skin and tolerated the Roaccutane well so I was just wondering if he is being overly cautious as it seems like a very long time to wait.
I had moderate acne. I had first month with 20 mg per day, then 2 with 40mg, 2 with 60mg, 1 with 80mg. Accutane made my acne worse at first A LOT. Now have no more blackheads or whiteheads, I continue to develop cysts and have had 7 cortisone shots on no longer active ones! I am taking with food, I eat healthy, drink loads of water. Why am I not responding to this treatment, ? How much longer should I be on it? Should I up my dosage? Also concerned about scarring
I over-exfoliate so much as a teen on top of having constant inflammation and acne that I did not treat properly. I now have scar-prone skin that looks dull and dehydrated no matter what I do. There is a ruddy texture around my jaw and very mild scarring everywhere. I'm really desperate for a solution but everyone recommends what I know for certain would only ruin my skin. I've tried Retinoids and it enlarged my pores and gave me severe redness for over a year. What else can I do? Accutane?
I was on accutane for 5.5 months. I was supposed to be on it for 7 months but stopped because my hair was starting to fall out. My acne at that point had cleared up but I was left with a lot of scarring. Fast forward three months after that, a few pimples show here and there, face oily as ever and scarring becoming way more evident. It's as though my skin is telling me beware: acne coming through soon. would it be wise to go back on accutane? I wouldn't mind the side effects at all at this point
