My incision has been infected for 2 weeks and I've been on 2 different antibiotics and it’s getting worse. What next? (photos)

Hi my wound became open at the end of my incision and has been infected for 2 weeks now. The infection has spread further along the wound and my whole boob is in pain but there is no redness or swelling. I’m running a high temperature and feeling faint but I was told this is normal for an infection and I should just rest but I have now finished my course and I’m still feeling like this. What should I do? I feel really worried and don’t feel like my nurses or surgeon are taking me seriously.

Hi Beth,I’m sorry you’re not feeling well. As far as your clinical picture, when it comes to post-surgical infections in cases of breast augmentation, either the skin is infected alone, or the implant itself may have become infected. Generally, if it’s the skin alone, antibiotics will help clear the infection. However if the implant is infected, this is less likely. If you’re still having fevers and chills after a course of antibiotics, with a draining wound, red and painful breast, I’d be concerned for an implant infection. You should contact your surgeon as soon as possible to have it addressed. I hope this helps. Good luck!
