What type of clothing do I wear following Lipo of inner thighs that won't create a seam?

It sounds like perhaps you are not wearing a compression garment. This is usually provided at the time of surgery and patients wear it for one week, 24 hours a day. In our practice, after the first week, patients wear shapewear like Spanx or Assets under their clothing. These provide smooth compression and clothing with seams can be worn over these as long as not too tight. An alternative is to wear compression panty hose without seams, but they should say on the label 30 -40 mmHg to be strong compression, and they should cover the treated areas. These can be ordered online. You can wear leggings, loose pants, skirts, and dresses as they will not leave a crease.

There is no particular compressive garment that sets a standard after liposuction. The garment should be well fitted in comfortable. Seams it should be positioned away from the skin.

Thank you for your question.  Outside of a compression garment following liposuction I do not have clothing restrictions for patients.  I have never found that seams can leave a permanent crease and instead recommend patients to wear loose, comfortable clothing, such as sweat pants. Typically at 5 days postop, most patients that have undergone liposuction are still using compression garments. I personally have not made restrictions in clothing, but talk to your board certified plastic surgeon about his/her recommendations.

I require my patients to wear the compression garment following a liposuction procedure, but as long as they adhere to the time requirements, there are no restrictions that I place on their other clothing. I would check with your surgeon to make sure of his specific requirements. Best Wishes.

after liposuction in any area, you do not want to wear anything that is tight (other than the post op garment). try to wear loose fitting slacks or pants. with your garment, check this frequently during the day, and make sure there is no wrinkling in the area of your liposuction. if there is, smooth the fabric. if you get a crease, then show it to your BCPS soon so it can be altered b4 it is permanent.
