Like everything else, heart rates vary by individual. Speak with your surgeon, but no, it shouldn't be an issue. My best,Dr. Sheila Nazarian@drsheilanazarian on Instagram
Thank you for your question. There is not a set number of beats per minute on an EKG that determines the safety of a tummy tuck procedure. Assuming no other cardiac risk factors, your 54 may simply indicate that you are in good shape or that your body is comfortable at that hear rate. Hope this helps.
Low heart rate ( less than 60 beats per minute) could be secondary to either medical condition or excellent body fitness.Low heart rate secondary to medical conditions ( e.g coronary disease, miocarditis, etc) or medications requires evaluation by either a PCP or cardiologist and "clearance" prior undergoing elective cosmetic plastic surgery procedures like a tummy tuckLow heart rate secondary to excellent body fitness, usually found in athletes (where excellent physical conditions causes the heart to be enlarged, and therefore have a resting heart rate is lower than norma) might not be a contraindication for elective cosmetic plastic surgery. However, even on these cases, patients should undergo evaluation by their primary care physician, anesthesia team and cardiologist if necessary before any surgery.
Thank you for your question. A heart rate of 54 in a healthy, active adult is very good. You will need a pre-operative physical examination by your primary care physician to ensure you are safe to undergo general anesthesia. For the best results, please meet with a board certified plastic surgeon who commonly performs cosmetic surgery. Hope this helps and good luck!
Heart rates vary between healthy individuals and therefore a 54 bpm heart rate should not be a contraindication to having a tummy tuck. Provided that your primary care physician feels that your are a good candidate for surgery, a heart rate of 54 should not stop you from having the tummy tuck.
The range of normal for heart rate is for those with "normal" hearts. An athlete with excellent cardiopulmonary conditioning normally runs a heart rate well below 60. If an elderly person with heart disease has an abnormally low heart rate, then concerns are raised.
Thank you for your question. A heart rate of 54 may indicate your normal, that you are healthy and physically fit, or an underlying cardiovascular condition. Best advice is to meet with a board certified plastic surgeon who will do a full physical examination and if necessary order additional cardiovascular testing and/or cardiologist consult before tummy tuck surgery. If you are in excellent health and are in good shape then a heart rate of 54 is pretty good. If you are not then you will want to get yourself checked upon by a PCP before surgery. Good luck!
heart rates vary. it is not a problem to do a TT on someone with a low heart rate. if you or your BCPS are worried, then you can get clearance from your PCP or internist.
You have skin rubbing on itself, this is causing irritation. The medical term is intrigenitis, which is skin irritation. You will want to keep this area dry, using baby powder or other products to wick away moisture should help.
Dear sryan67, Thank you for your clinical post. It will be helpful to have a photograph of the abdominal area of your incision as the incisional approach to hernia repair can differ between surgeons. In general, after 6 months fluid and swelling should have resolved and you want to...
Having used both progressive tension (quilting) sutures and tissue glue, my preference is for the former. Although the sutures take a little longer to place, they seem to be more reliable than the glue. I still use one drain to help prevent seroma formation but the sutures decrease the a...
