Swelling can be significant immediately after liposuction. I tell my patients that it takes a good 3 weeks for major swelling and bruising to resolve. About half the final result is appreciated at that point. It takes a good 3 months to appreciate the final results. Follow up with your plastic surgeon and best wishes.

Congratulations on your procedure. Most patients are quite swollen at 10 days, and swelling can increase as your activity increases with your recovery. With 3 kids, I suspect that you have to be up and around and increased swelling may be attributable to activity. The swelling will often be more prominent at the lowest point of the operative site, simply due to gravity. Make certain you are assessed by your operative surgeon, to make sure you do not have a fluid pocket or seroma. But be reassured that swelling will slowly resolve over time (weeks to months) and compression and lymphatic massage can help. Best of luck with your continued recovery.
