Can gynecomastia and nipple reduction be done at the same time with the same incision site? Im not too sure about it and will this increase the complexity? Also which one should be done first? How much nipple projection should there be for a guy? Will the costs be much higher if i get the nipple reduction done?
Answer: Gynecomastia and nipple reduction at the same incision site There are many methods and types of incisions which can correct gynecomastia. I perform the operation through a lower smile-type incision along the lower border of the areola. The incision required to reduce the size of the nipple would entail a different incision onto the nipple itself. Removing the protuberant glandular tissue involves contouring the fat and cutting and separating the glandular tissue from its surrounding attachments so that it can be removed. This lead to a decrease in the blood supply to the skin of the nipple so a second separate incision to reduce the nipple may lead to nipple ischemia and other complications. However, depending on the size of the nipple to begin with, in many cases, when gynecomastia correction surgery is performed, the areolar size and the nipple projection is secondarily reduced. Because of this, I would have the gynecomastia surgery performed first as you might find that your nipple projection corrects itself without needing a second operation. Because of the high variability in nipple size, shape and morphology as well as areolar diameter, its difficult to give an exact number for projection. In women, a projection of around 1 cm is considered normal so I would consider anything from flush with the chest to around 0.5 cm of projection as within normal variation. Schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who is experienced in this type of surgery and make sure you voice all your concerns. Good Luck!

CONTACT NOW Answer: Nipple reduction and gynecomastia Nipple reduction is distinctly different than correction of gynecomastia. Gynecomastia is the abnormal enlargement of male breasts. It is usually fixed using a variety of different incisions depending on the size of the breast and the looseness of the skin. These incisions can be located on the side of the chest or on the border of the areola. The nipple is the small projection in the center. In women it functions to allow a baby to suckle from the breast. Correction to reduce over projecting nipples is done right at the nipple and is not related to any of the breast tissue although it can safely be done at the same time as gynecomastia surgery.. Finally, the areola is the darker pigmented skin around the nipple. This skin can be reduced and can be combined with removal of the breast tissue. For the best advise you should see a an experienced gynecomastia surgeon. Good luck.

Answer: Areola reduction Usually gynecomastia is treated with a comination of liposuction and gland removal, by elimination of the gland, the areola will reduce in size since the tissue which was expanding the areola is removed. But if the areola is extremely large, there are multiple ways to do the reduction in size, it is possible to do at the same time as the gland removal and liposuction. Hope this helps.

Answer: Gynecomastia with nipple reduction surgery There is no point of having them separately. By placing the incisions precisely at the areola's border (dark-light skin junction), we can remove the excess breast tissue that is causing the "puffy-looking" nipple area and at the same time reduce the areola's diameter for a more proportionate result. However, it is important to preserve some breast tissue and fat (instead of removing them altogether) to prevent nipple collapse, skin irregularities, and other types of deformity. Simply put, the real issue is how much is left after surgery, as opposed to how much we should remove. Good luck and best wishes.

Answer: Can gynecomastia and nipple reduction be done at the same time with the same incision site? Thank you for sharing your excellent question. A nipple reduction can be safely performed at the same time as gynecomastia correction. The gynecomastia surgery will often help reduce the prominence of a male's areola, while also reducing its size. This should be performed before reducing the projection of the nipple to avoid overcorrection. The size of the nipple is based on patient preference and will incur an additional cost. Hope this helps.
