After having gynecomastia surgery I have my dressings on each nipple , they are 10x10 cm patches , when would you advise to remove the dressings only as I am aware that I need to keep my compression garment on for 6-8 weeks.

There is no standard in terms of how much fat is removed. It's different for each patient. However, some tissue needs to remain behind to support your nipples.
It will take several weeks or even months for the return of normal sensation. The body has an amazing ability to repair itself; hence, the injured nerves repair themselves gradually as the patient moves forward to his recovery, a process referred to as reinnervation.
