When can I play basketball and sports after gynecomastia surgery?

Hello, I am 3 weeks removed from gynecomastia surgery(gland removal and liposuction) and I'm pleased with results, I see my surgeon in two weeks but I do have a decent amount of swelling on the left side(left side had more tissue) and I'm hoping it's just becasue there was more done to it. I'm normally a very active guy and I'm just wondering how long it will be before I can step on the court again. Also, if the swelling is due to fluid, will that push my recovery time back even farther? thanks so much.

Thank you for sharing your excellent question.  If all of the male breast tissue was removed during your surgery you will not have a recurrence despite low testosterone levels.  Hope this helps.

This is typically due to hormonal or weight changes. If there has been no weight gain and the mass has enlarged it should be evaluated by your doctor to insure it isn't something more significant.  Don't sleep on it. All the Best, Dr. J
