... when you change the tip of the nose, you also change how the rest of the nose looks, adjacent to the new tip, and often there are some adjustments to the rest of the nose that also make sense. For example, the modification that I made in the video link below shows elevating and narrowing the tip of your nose. It's still strong in its forward projection from your face, but I reduced the strength of the bridge of the nose just a little bit, to match the tip. It's the rare nose where you can work only, only on the tip, and still get an excellent result. That make sense?
While the photo is somewhat helpful, it's impossible to know exactly what would be needed to change the tip of your nose without a full examination. Please seek out a board certified plastic surgeon in your area who specializes in rhinoplasty and who may also offers computer imaging. This way, the two of you can discuss your concerns and have a healthier discussion about surgical options. You may find out that you need more than a tip rhinoplasty in order for the nose to maintain balance with the rest your facial features. Consider seeking a 2nd or 3rd opinion, so you have all the information you need and are comfortable with your decision. Best of luck!
Yes, absolutely. You can have only the tip modified if that is the only issue that you have with your nose.
A tip rhinoplasty alone can be done one anyone. That does not mean that it should be done, does not mean that it leads to good results in everyone, and it does not mean that it makes everyone happy. I think a tip rhinoplasty alone makes sense in only very rare situations. With the photo you have provided, I don't think I would offer you a tip rhino along. I would need to hear what you were trying to achieve, but I think it is unlikely a result you would be happy with would be from a tip rhino.
Improving the nostril tip is a frequent request of patients wanting nasal refinement. It is possible toimprove the cosmetic appearance of the tip alone without altering the rest ofthe nose in some patients. Whether the optimal option in your particularsituation would be a tip rhinoplasty alone or a full rhinoplasty would best bedetermined at a consultation. Either procedure can be performed with a closedor open approach.Following the advice from a surgeon on this orany other website who proposes to tell you exactly what to do based on limited2 dimensional photos without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussingthe pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in your bestinterest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon with extensive nasalsurgery experience who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeryand ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery(ASAPS) or a facial plastic surgeon (ENT) that you trust and are comfortablewith. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person.Robert Singer, MD FACSLa Jolla,California
In the far majority of patients, a full rhinoplasty is required, not just a tip plasty alone. The nose is a three-dimensional structure, and it is very difficult to give an opinion based on a one dimensional photograph. It's also important to understand that all of the components of the nose must balance with themselves, and the entire nose balances with patient's facial features.
Tip rhinoplasty is possible, but certainly not by me or by my recommendation. In the profile view your dorm would end up being to high and I doubt you would be happy. Most times you can't just change on part of the nose without needing a change in another part to achieve the desired result. I would recommend seeing several board certified plastic surgeons before making your decision. Good luck, Dr. Schuster in Boca Raton
Nasal tip plasty is all you need and it is possible. Key now is to find the right doctor. Good luck
Yes, the nasal tip can be refined alone without touching or changing any other areas, of the nose, during a Rhinoplasty. Actually, that's called a Tip-plasty and we perform these all the time. Hope this helps.
Every rhinoplasty should be individualized; I cannot tell after seeing just one picture but it is possible for you to do just your tip. It is important to create balance in all parts of your nose.
Yes it is normal to have a lot of swelling after surgery. This could be treated with steroid injections if necessary. In addition I tend to keep the splint longer if I suspect that swelling is going to be excessive after surgery particularly after open surgery.
I would definitely consult your surgeon to see if this is ok to do. Usuaully we make patients wait a little longer before drinking just because of bleeding and infection.
The chronic gut sutures that we usually use inside the nose are generally designed to dissolve and fall out around 10 days- 2 weeks after surgery. The fact that it was so loose that you could pull it out without pain, probably means that it was ready to fall out anyhow. That being said, I...
