3 weeks post Breast Augmentation with yellow tissue/separation on T junction. Is this normal?

This T area is where maximal tension occurs and therefore the most common area of breakdown. This can be tension only or infection and/or suture spitting. I recommend dry dressings or silvadene until healed. At 3 weeks the chances of implant exposure are very low so you should be ok to heal.

Hi Alyssa,  Some skin in this area has died.  No cause for alarm.  This happens a lot because the blood supply in this area is decreased.  See your doctor immediately. He/she will probably start you on some "local care" until it heals in with new tissue over the next couple months.  All the best, "Dr. Joe"

Thank you for your picture. You have a typical small wound separation that should heal very nicely with local wound care. It sounds like you're doing everything correctly. Keep following your plastic surgeon's advice.

The blood supply at the inverted T is always a problem and so wound healing problems at that spot are common. Basically the skin died from a lack of blood circulation. It should heal nicely for you but it will take several weeks so be patient and in touch with your surgeon.

Unfortunately wound healing problems at the T-junction are not uncommon.  Most of the time if the wound is kept clean and covered it will heal over time.  This process however may take several weeks.  It will be very important for you to precisely followed the directions of your surgeon.  If you notice any worsening of the situation, surrounding redness, fever or chills you should contact your surgeon immediately

Only with an actual physical exam can someone offer reassurance that has any value. This should be seen by your surgeon. The good things are no fever, and that the implant is not visible in the wound, and wound care is geared to keep it that way. You don't mention culture and or antibiotics, but your surgeon should consider these. Most with this level of healing problems go on to have a nice result. All the best.\

You do indeed have a partial skin separation, and your surgeon has given you the right advice for treatment of this wound.  You need to see  your surgeon quite frequently to see how the wound healing is progressing.Quite often these wounds heal with this treatment.  Rarely, however, your surgeon may need to evaluate the wound to rule out any exposure of the breast prosthesis.
