I happen to do a lot of energy assisted chin liposuction. Contrary to what some of the other doctors have said, I don't believe you were over suctioned, but there may have been some generous energy applied to the area. This can lead to prolonged swelling and some irregular contours. My strongest advice is to use some warm compresses and gentle massage. Do NOT run back and ask the doctor to do something invasive. The tissues can be very angry and will take quite a while to calm down. All this said, I would hope to see significant improvement by the 6-8 week mark. You would be surprised how much remodeling can happen in this area if you let it.Good Luck!
Thank you for your question. I suggest that you consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon.Best wishes,
It is still very early in your healing. The healing process in general can take up to one month for the majority of swelling to subside, incisions to close, sutures to come out, and for bruising to completely go away. Wearing a #compression garment may be suggested the first week and then nightly for up to six weeks. The swelling will also continue to diminish. So, you must be patient. It is also not uncommon to be experiencing some #lumps following neck and chin procedures. Some degree of firmness or lumpiness under the skin is normal after surgery and will resolve with time. Local #massage of the areas may accelerate the resolution of this problem, which normally takes 2-4 months to disappear completely. The lumps should diminish with time. If not, your doctor can provide suggestions for this concern. Your incisions will go through many changes before seeing the final result of your procedure. If ever during your healing, you have any concerns, it is suggested to call your board-certified surgeon or their medical staff to discuss.
Hello and congratulations on your surgery. Fat does not heal like skin and can have a banded, dimpled, and wavy look while healing. You are in the early stages of healing and shouldn't be staring in the mirror too much as you will fret over conditions that are transient and therefore will not exist in the near future. You need to attend all of your post-operative visits with your surgeon and ask direct questions about your observations. Ask at what time period you should be concerned. Don't worry, though. You will most likely be very happy.
Dear Alondra43it is hard to tell without an examination. I would suggest you to consult your plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
It's too early to determine final results but it appears you may have been over liposuction. It appears your skin may be attached to The underlying muscle structures. The results and puckering it will probably improve but you may be left with some uneven contours.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
