No way. That is the great thing about this procedure. Tumescent anesthesia which is some lidocaine mixed with saline is enough to completely numb the area. I do offer most patients a chill pill which includes a medication to calm you and to help with the injection pain. It is much safer to do this procedure awake and most surgeon are able to offer the patient that option if they are interested. I do most of my procedures awake and we have developed a nice protocol to make it enjoyable for the patients. Hope this helps.Best of luck,DrC
Liposuction is an outpatient procedure which is commonly performed in either a doctor's office or hospital. It is be performed under local #anesthesia or a "conscious" sedation intravenously. The location and type of anesthesia for your procedure will be determined by your doctor. For smaller areas of the body, such as the #chin, the use of local anesthesia is common. Consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in #face, #neck and #chin procedures is important to ensure you are receiving the best advice, care, and surgical experience possible.
Liposuction under the chin usually does not require a general anesthesia, where you would be completely out. It can be performed with IV sedation or even just local anesthesia in some cases.
Hello dearThanks for the question and provided information as well. It could be under local anesthesia. I recommend you to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon for a good evaluation and to talk about your goals.Good luck :)
Neck/Chin/Jowl Liposuction can easily be done in the office under local anesthesia. I have performed neck liposuction using local tumescent anesthesia for many years. Patients are back to work and exercising the next day. I would suggest finding a Dermatologic Surgeon that performs tumescent liposuction. Good luck.
LIposuction can be performed with local anesthesia sedation or general. The type of anesthesia does not effect the result. The type of anesthesia is usually chosen for patient comfort. If one is looking for the least expensive option, it can be performed under local anesthesia.
Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures, including Facial Liposuction, Facial implants and Chin Augmentation with dermal fillers or silastic chin implants, for over 30 years. Non smiling photos of your face from the front and side would help in the evaluation. Facial liposuction, including submental liposuction (under the chin) is typically performed using a local anesthetic. When the chin is weak, this creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy, the lower face looks short, de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a "double chin". Proper placement of a silastic chin implant adds forward projection to the chin thereby creating harmony and balance to the lower face. Using the same incision, liposuction can be performed to reduce the fat and further shape the neck. Excess skin, from below the chin, can also be removed through the same incision. I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty (requires extensive tissue dissection, bone cuts and placement of metal screws and plates to secure the cut segments of bone). I perform chin implant surgery in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone. Hope this helps.
It is possible that there would still be some swelling present 6 weeks after liposuction of the neck and placement of a chin implant. Photographs of you before and after the procedure would be helpful to give you further advice.
Chin liposuction is the plastic surgery procedure that removes the fullness of the soft tissues BELLOW the chin. Chin lipo does does not affect the shape, size or symmetry of the chin itself.
Patients with questions and concerns about their chin lips healing process should follow up with the plastic surgeon that performed the operation.
