I had implants put in 3 months ago. I am having a problem with the left breast. My doctor told me after 3 months that I have Capsular Contracture. I am in a lot of pain. I am having a lot of pain and pressure. In its also hard at times.
Answer: Contracture RomyMatrana: Capsular contractures do not typically develop so quickly after surgery but it is possible.Capsular contracture is not covered under the implant warranty in most cases. Recently a new implant manufacturer began selling implants in the US, Sientra. They DO cover capsular contracture for a period of time after your surgery. They currently have a very small market share however and the odds are that you do not have those implants. Your surgeon will obviously know which implants you have. Make a follow up appointment and find out what your options are.Good luck to you!

CONTACT NOW Answer: I was wondering if I would be still covered under the warranty? I have Capsular Contracture with one of my implants. Capsular contracture is a result of the body's reaction to the implants. We are still not quite sure what the cause is, there are several factors involved. Type of implant, placement above or under the muscle can have an effect on contracture after surgery. If the capsule formation is severe enough it can cause pain and discomfort. The manufacturer warranty covers defect in manufacturing process that can lead to leakage or rupture of the implants. Capsular contracture is not the result of the manufacturing process and is not covered by the warranty. However if the capsular contracture is severe enough to cause pain, capsulectomy and removal may be covered by some health insurance carriers, but the replacement is not covered.

Answer: Breast Implant Warranties: What they Cover and What they Don't The major implant companies generally cover deflation of saline implants, or leakage of silicone implants for the life of the devices. For the first ten years, there is a financial reimbursement of costs for replacement surgery with implant leakage or deflation. After that, the implants are provided complimentary the majority of the time. Capsular contracture is not covered for any smooth silicone device by any of the three existing implant companies witih FDA approval.

Answer: Breast implants, capsular contracture, breast pain I'm sorry you are experiencing this. Typically warranties on implants cover the implant itself in cases of deflation, rupture, or other manufacturer's defect. Commonly contracture isn't covered since the issues is with the tissue in the pocket created for the implant. The best resource you have is your warranty packet that your surgical team has given you. Read that over and make an appointment to see your surgeon to discuss your options. I hope your issue is resolved quickly and you are feeling better soon
