The implant manufacturer's warranty is for failure of the implant (rupture), but does not cover how your body reacts to it. CC is something we still do not know how to prevent or control reliably and every patient who has breast implants should be made aware of this risk before surgery. It is not from a defective implant or a bad doctor, it is your body's unique response to the implant that has resulted in a tighter or thicker than normal layer of scar tissue. Ideally, the plastic surgeon will discuss up front how that is managed financially in terms of your responsibilities. CC is a lifelong risk and can "trigger" at any time, even years after surgery. There are many techniques that have reduced the frequency of CC but it probably affects at least 1 in 50 to some degree (reports vary widely). While it's unlikely that any surgeon would give a lifetime warranty for CC, many do offer to re-operate at minimal cost (perhaps OR and anesthesia fees only for example) if it occurs very early after surgery. However, keep in mind, revision does not change your physiology and CC can recur. I think it's always worth a try to use Singulair or Accolate and see if you are a responder. Ask your doctor what he thinks about that option and good luck!
